My husband recently bought my friends and me a private spa and 3D ultrasound baby shower in Vancouver. It was an amazing experience since we had ulimited spa treatments and got to see my baby to learn she is a girl. The staff at Som Visao were incredibly friendly and I had the chance to share my 3D ultrasound with my closest friends. I've never seen or heard of anything like this before but it was affordable and everyone left with fresh manicures. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good prenatal baby shower gift idea.

At my baby shower, I received a prayer bracelet to wear during my hospital stay and delivery. My family members brought a charm or a bead to add to the bracelet. Each wrote down why they chose the charm, or a saying to go along with it, and signed their name. Before they gave it to me, they each read their note to explain what the charm or bead meant. It was very touching and a wonderful idea. I still get it out and look at it every now and then. It still makes me cry every time.

For my daughter's shower, I purchased an inexpensive clothesline at a dollar store which came in pastel colors. I hung the baby's clothes instead of wrapping them. This served as decorations for the shower and clothes for the new arrival later and in turn saved the landfill!

I had a copy of this poem put inside my baby shower invitations:

Although greeting cards are nice,
they are only read once or twice.
But a story book is a treasure,
that will always give pleasure.
So instead of a greeting card to be put aside,
Please give a story book for Baby with your name inside.

I am having a "Diaper Party" for my second baby. Since I'm having another boy, I already have everything that I will need. The one thing that I will need with two kids is diapers. A friend suggested I have a diaper party. We are going to invite friends and family and ask that they only bring diapers and diapering essentials. This way, I can still have a get-together to celebrate the new baby, but get only things I absolutely need.
